Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 April 2026

It's a Date is built to respect your privacy. The app reads your calendar locally on your iPhone to tell you if you're free — nothing about your events ever leaves your device.

The short version

What the app accesses

To check whether you're free, It's a Date asks iOS for permission to read your calendars via Apple's EventKit framework. All reads happen on your device. Event titles, times, locations, and attendees are never transmitted, copied, or stored by us. You can revoke calendar access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

What the app stores

Any preferences, history, or notes you create in the app are stored locally on your device (and, if you have iCloud enabled for the app, synced through your personal iCloud account — we cannot see this data). Deleting the app removes this local data.

What we do not collect

The mailing list

If you sign up on this website, we collect your email address (and optionally a first name and a short note) and store it with our email provider, Kit, solely to send you occasional updates about the app. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send. If you unsubscribe, we remove you from the list.

App Store purchases

It's a Date is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the transaction and any payment data — we never see your payment details. Apple may share aggregated, anonymised sales information with us (for example, total downloads by country) as part of standard App Store reporting.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be mentioned in the next email we send to the mailing list.
